The Human Body Collection

Three playable, offline touchscreen prototypes that turn health topics into walk-up experiences: the digestive system, balanced meals, and dental care. Designed and built by BellTech as research and development.

Build My Plate attract screen: a large illustrated plate divided into fruits, vegetables, grains and protein

The challenge

Health education in shared spaces has to work for visitors who arrive with no instructions, no account and only a few minutes, and who may walk away mid-activity. These prototypes test how far touch, play and immediate feedback can carry a health topic under those conditions.

Our approach

Every exhibit follows the same pattern. An attract loop invites a first touch. A menu offers free exploration and a short timed challenge. Everything works by touch alone, mistakes earn a gentle correction rather than a failure screen, and an idle timer quietly resets the display for the next visitor. Scores stay on the device, with optional initials on a daily top-ten board.

Experiences explored

  • Digestive-system anatomy
  • Nutrition: Build My Plate
  • Dental health
  • Large-format portrait & landscape displays
  • Touch-first interaction
  • On-device leaderboards

What we delivered

  • Three playable Windows prototypes that run fully offline
  • Attract loops, idle reset, and staff settings behind a hidden hold-and-PIN gesture
  • Local daily leaderboards with optional initials entered on a large on-screen keyboard
  • Optional score sync between two neighbouring units over a local network (Digestive Discovery, Build My Plate)
  • Automated playthrough QA that drives the real touch handlers and captures screenshots

Status: These are working prototypes, not installed exhibits. Educational content and illustrations still need subject-matter review, and final production art, before any public installation.

01Portrait touch display · 1080 × 1920 stage, designed to scale to 4K

Digestive Discovery

Explore nine organs by touch, send a bite through the digestive tract, race a 60-second identification challenge, or rebuild the system by dragging each organ into place in order.

02Landscape touch display · 16:9 stage, designed to scale to 4K

Build My Plate

Drag illustrated foods onto a dimensional plate to build a balanced breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. Coaching points to the food group that needs attention and never labels a food good or bad. Food content is editable without rebuilding the app.
